This has happened several times, when it does, I've run spyware scans and finally did a system restore for a few days back. That seems to fix it for the time being. At the time it happens, I can't get onlnine. When it starts to dial, it makes a funny noise, like stuttering (stuck) and the blue screen comes up. This has also happened when I've been going over my saved photo DVDs (in he DVD drive) Looking for pictures and taking some off onto the computer.
Today it did it while I was writing in Word 2007, and decided to put it online, while Word was still open.
But, after it happens, it then won't let it dialup and go online without coming up again. Windows will come on okay, it just won't go online. That's when I virus/spyware scan, do disk cleanup, and finally restore to an earlier date.
I haven't copied down all the error messages, but have been looking in google for the main words and found many websites and boards (where it's asked about) Don't get any really clear fixes. At least that I can understand. I saw one answer that said it's an AOL problem, but I don't have AOL as an ISP (I just have the AIM instant message box). I recently took out the Viewpoint Manager that installs with AIM, and is used for the Super Buddies, because I had read it wasn't good and slowed the computer down. But the blue screen had happened before this and now today (I uninstalled it 2 days ago) Trying to see what I did, if anything that might be causing it.
The blue screen bascially says it has to close and the error is intelC52.sys page fault in a nonpage area. Also says one can restart in SAFE mode and go into the BIOS and disable shadowing or caching. But, I read (in my google searching) that this didn't help when one person tried it.
I haven't added any new hardware lately, or when it started doing this. It's done it maybe 3 times in the last 3 months. Each time, when it starts doing it, it then does it every time I try and go online, UNTIL I scan it and restore to an earlier date (I think it's the restoring that fixes it)
I have a 2 1/2 year old DELL XPS400 with WIN XP (media edition) and SP2
I've been getting alerts to download and install the SP3 but haven't yet. I've read on other groups that people have a problem installing it (have to get directions to do something in the registry before it will install) and it still has bugs and to put it off for a little while. Which is what I decided to do.
I don't think this would be related to my Blue Screen error message.
Up until now, anytime there's a download alert I put it in.
I hope this isn't too confusing, those who know probably know what I mean (about the error) I just wanted to put in all the details I could think of.
Thanks,
Carrie
