I have an unusual problem that I haven't experienced before.
I am unable to switch between application in Windows XP. If I have 2
instances of internet explorer open I am able to switch between them by
clicking on the task bar or using ALT+TAB. This is the same for any program
that I have 2 or more instances open for. The problem is when for example I
have internet explorer open and notepad. I am unable to switch between the 2
applications using ALT+TAB or by clicking on the relevant programs box in the
task bar.
Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know what is causing it? I
hav done a full virus scan using the latest AVG with all updates which has
revealed nothing. I have not recently installed any new applications other
than AVG but it worked fine after that was installed.
How about if you minimize the open window, can get to the other window?
Also check your task manager for CPU usage there could some processer eating
up your CPU or not responding.

Yes when the window is minimized I can access the other window.
I'm running an AMD 2.5GHz Quadcore CPU with 4GB DDR2 1066MHz RAM which I
would expect to be able to multi task.
There aren't any processes on my machine using excessive CPU or memory.
