My pc boots back to factory settings, all data is lost

Everytime I restart my pc and login it creates a temporary profile and
reverts back to all factory settings. My documents folder is empty,no
financial data,no email messages etc. Its asks me to set up programs. It
makes a beeping sound almost like quite telephone ringing. The message I
get is this: windows cannot load the locally stored profile and is logging
you on with a temporary profile. Any changes you make to this profile will be
lost when you leave. HELP!!!

This usually happens when you log on under the Guest account.

Unless you've taken some radical approaches, your existing data should
still be on the PC. The issue is that each users specific settings are
stored
in a file called NTUser.Dat. When a person logs in that database is used
to load your profile. (Windows Settings, Background....)

It's likely the profile itself is unrecoverable, but the data is still in
tact. User
data is stored in the path \Documents and Settings\'YourLoginName'.
The best thing at this point is to backup the complete folder tree under
your login name. Once you have this on a permanent media like a CD-R
or DVD-R then you can create a new profile and recover your old and
previous data into it.

As to the beeping that is an indication of some kind of error. It's possible
the Hard Drive in the computer may be failing. It's important that you
backup your data as soon as possible.

1. Leave the machine turned-off.

2. Take the machine to a local, reputable and independent (i.e., not
BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) computer repair shop.

Added info:

Logon to another account with admin privilege and run System Restore.
Choose the most recent restore point and SR should restore the user
hives.

Or...

Boot into safe mode and log in as Administrator. Copy ntuser.dat from
%windir%\repair to "Documents and Settings\[your user id]". Now do a system
restore to a point in time prior to when the corruption message began to
appear.

Or...

Relocate NTUserdat

Look in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList and find the profile you want to change and
then change ProfileImagePath to the ntuser.dat folder that you want to use.
You must manually copy or move the ntuser.dat file there.
