Dear Folks,

When I am trying to run ntdsutil on command prompt it is showing
following error:-

“'ntdsutil' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
Operable program or batch file.”

But this ntdsutil.exe file is at the path %systemroot%/system32/
dllcache & if I go into this path it works successfully.

I want to make this file available at any each prompt despite of this
where ever it is physically saved.

HOw can I do this .....?

Thanks in advance

This is probably because the slashes in your %path% point in the wrong
direction. Anyway, you should not locate your executables in the dllcache
folder. Much better to put it into the System32 folder.

Re: Ntdsutil running error

Hello gaurav,

If you type "path" in a command line you get displayed all configured path's
on your machine. Also you can add a new path. If you have ntdsutil added
to c:\windows\system32 and will run it from command line, you need the path
entry "c:\windows\system32", which normally is a default one. If it not exist
you can add it.

Are you running this on a DC? What is the purpose of running it? Is the DC
experiencing any errors?
