Check the Tortise Drive too - you never know. ;)

Good move getting rid of McAfee. Its the only AV that I ever got a virus
from after it had scanned the file that I opened and hosed my machine with.

OK, these are beginner questions....I only ask because you did not specify
that you checked them......

Did you check for dust buildup? A clogged heatsink on your CPU can overheat
the PC and make it freeze or shut down.

Have you changed out the RAM? Bad RAM has been the biggest pain in the @22
of my network admin career. It doens't happen often, but when it does, it
can mimic almost ANY computer issue.

These seem most likely since you said that you re-images with a 2 month old
image.

Almost forgot.....bad power supplies are like bad RAM....they can make
almost anything happen. Luckily they are pretty cheap and changing it out
is pretty easy.

Computer freezes up

My computer has froze up on me about 50 times and I have been working on it
all day. The Hare Drive checks out good. I even brought back an image from 2
months ago when the computer was working really good. I got rid of McAfee
which was suppose to be causing my problem and put in Avast. I got rid of a
lot of programs which I haven't use in a little while. I really clean this
computer up and it still freezes up on me. I have Vista Ultimate upgrade and
can't re-install the OS because it's an upgrade. Any one know how to get
around this I sure will re-install. I'm just about really to do a clean
install. I kept my contacts, favorites, and email and my data is in the
other partition. I figure I'll write to this group for any ideas before I do
a clean install. I have and Dual processor called and Intell E6550 with 2.33
Gigs and two 750 SATA HD's, and two gigs of 6400 RAM so it's a nice little
computer. I even have a gig of RAM on the video. Anyway any idea because I
have run out of them.

Re: Computer freezes up

RAM is good and I have a power house CPU fan and the top of the line 650
power supple just a couple of months old. I downloaded "Advance Windows
care'" after PC doctor which is something I never do except if I'm going to
install a new OS then I have nothing to lose so I'll see tomorrow.

Thanks
