Modem - Details.. (where are the details.)

to ALL REPLIERS... plz READ ASAP

Hi to all......

I have some very conflicting replies,,, yet each was informative in its own way.

The chap is coming to get me in tomorrow, and I need some Real info after all I have read,,,,,,
so, I'll cut to the chase.... ha ha.

1)Why when clicking on modems within XP does a person only get taken to an area where an account can
be set up?
2)Why is there NO access to a settings dialogue within XP

3)Is this a Bill G thing? and, if so, Why?

4)Why is it all aimed at B/Band? Would I see the same if I used XP and dial-up? Like,
would I be able to access a 'setttings' dialogue in XP using dun? (is so simple using my set-up on
my computer.)

5)Why has XP made it impossible to 'tickle' areas that need tickling?

Anyway,, I will be in front of his computer within 18hrs,,,,, any info before I go, based on what
I know, would be appreciated..... will check in the morning.
So far, it looks like I 'cant' access any settings, I cant use the link given concerning "keeping
alive" (cos its only good for dun) and I cant do anything re: what smlunatick said til he answers
the post I place an hour ago.... (hope he is awake.)

hi 'Glow'.......

i have been back to his house,, and the modem was/is one that was supplied by mr Richard
Branson.. it is their/his modem via their 'virgin.com' scenario.
i believe i have isolated it to just that,, that the modem itself is simply bluddy faulty.
(either that or the whole company is.... take your pick..!!)

it is apparently Still dropping out when inactive for a few minutes, and i am apparently being
picked-up tomorrow in order to be in front of his screen while he phones them.
(not sure i like the term,, "being picked up" ha ha.)
