Re: pc-kitchen registrycleaner

Would you consider the problems reported on this news group as a result of
using a registry cleaner reliable? Is your ability to think reliable?

Re: pc-kitchen registrycleaner

CCleaner is relatively harmless and is a useful utility if one
selects what one wants to clean. I use it every couple of days
and especially after I delete some program which I no longer
need. I've never heard too many complaints about it.

My view is that CCleaner is a good product, and most of its features
are not only useful, but harmless. However, its one feature I
recommend *against* using is its registry cleaning. Using that is a
potential problem, just as it is with any other registry cleaner.

Spybot Search and Destroy has a Advanced mode that provides a means to
check dead links in the registry, it's never caused a problem on any
computer I've used it on, and since I do a lot of application
development work, installing updates, versions, etc... removing as many
as I install, I find that the SBS&D tool to check the registry for dead
items is a great tool and cleans out old crap well.

Is yours? You know, I have NEVER seen any verifiable evidence of it
either way on this group, so you must be reading something that's not in
print. All there are is a bunch of opinions without any backing up. I
have presented much evidence inthe past, but refuse to present it again
here until someone else does the same, either pro or con. Opinions are
worthless; facts and valid results are meaningful. Got any?

I agree with that; they don't. And they both have their uses.

You will hear very few, if any, from people that know how to and bother
to read how to use it most effectively. I do hear complaints that it
didn't help, but never to date that it screwed anything up. I did try
its restorer feature once, and it also works.

Nope. Only my personal experience and what I read in news groups. Of course
it's not in print.
Facts! It screwed up my computer once. I then deleted the cleaner.
