Problems With Ip Configuration

Hello,

route add 0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0 192.168.0.1
worked

Ping 192.168.0.120
worked

Anything else didn't work. I couldn't ping any other
device in my network. I plugged the cable from the
router into the DSG-1008D and set the NIC to retrieve
IP automatically.

Now the IP is back to 169.254.167.234

I find this all very strange. What else could be the matter?

The only thing is a limitation in the router...

Try to connect another pc (notebook or other) which wasn't in your network before and try if this work.

Maybe the router has blacklisted / blocked the mac address or other...

Then the router would have blacklisted two NICs.
The one from the motherboard and the one I bought yesterday.

I've tried to ping the server directly from the router, but the ping failed.

It all seems pretty much hopeless :-(

I've just noticed,when I looked at the
"Netzwerkverbindungsdetails" that DHCP activated is set to NO

Could that have anything to do with it?

Oh, that is for automatically recieve IP from router, I guess.

DHCP activation is just to tell you if you received the address from DHCP or not.

Now my question is: Can you plug another client on the same port /location?
And the strange thing is the default GW... Where does it come from???

Nun brat mir einer nen Storch!

I have set up Win7 on the same PC using a second HDD (same model, same size+company)

And I still can't connect to my network. I have even used another cable (Cat6).

ipconig shows me the ip 169.254.224.107, but the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0
instead of 255.255.255.0

What's wrong with my network? It has to be the router, right?
I've also reseted my router, but without any sucess.

Yes, and what you can do right now is to check what happen if you plug the same pc directly to a switch instead of router. Maybe on your router there're some port "shutted down".

I'm not sure if it is the router.
I got another router and I keep having the same problem.

But thanks a lot for your help, though.

Ok, that's starting to be annoying for me. I MUST know the hell what's happening on that network!

Install wireshark http://www.wireshark.org/download.html on your server. Set the IP-address mode to DHCP, save settings and DISABLE each interface on your server. Now start wireshark on the right interface (start capturing), and than enable the interface. You should see some packets captured by the program. Wait until windows tells you that you are not connected and then stop capturing. Now save the result and upload here (the extension is the same, I prefer the native extension of wireshark).

Thanks

Hello,

it ain't half as annoying for you as it is for me ;-)
I'd really like to use this damn PC.

Ok, here are the screenshots. Sorry for the bad quality, but my upload ratio is only 500k.

Sorry, can you upload the LOG FILE, (File > save as > PCAP file). With that screenshot I can see only the initial part.
