My posts don't always appear?

For a long time Internet Explorer was the only browser to use, but that time has long since passed. As it stands now, Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Netscape and Opera are all viable solutions. Standards support has increased in all of them in the past year. Features such as tabbed browsing and popup-blocking are found in all the newest versions (except for Internet Explorer), and these are huge productivity aids, to say in the least. There are pros and cons to all the major browsers, but theyre slowly being worked out.

It would be rather uneducated to judge any of the top browsers. Take a week and try one of them out. You might just find something useful.

I have used IE, Netscape, Mozzilla and now Opera. By far this version of Opera is better than the others for looks and speed, (well to me they are )

Mozilla would be a great browser and I would still be using it if it werent for the fact that if you keep opening and closing tabs for long enough it just grinds to a halt or crashes. Annoyingly this is a bug that present back in Netscape 4. Youd think theyd have fixed it by now.

Opera has a similar although not as drastic problem but has a decent solution if not a fix. The autosave sessions mean that you can simply fire it up again and continue where you left off.

Tabbed browsing is relatively new in Mozilla so Id expect it to take at least another year to perfect. Mozilla is also reorganizing its roadmap for its browser and mail client, and as a result were going to see huge speed benefits. Mozilla is a very solid choice, but when it comes to speed it is undoubtedly the slowest.

The best tabbed browsing implementation is an IE implementation. If you have VS.NET you already have it. Go to start, run and type dexplore.exe.

I just downloaded and installed Mozilla 1.0.2 and although it is a little slow when starting up I find it to be faster when loading pages than IE6. I havent yet run into the tabs problem, I like the tabs allot, and I really like the way you can configure the scripts and plugins to block popups and resizing of the window.

I just might make it my default browser.

I just tried dexplore.exe but it doesnt appear to be keeping my cookies. At least, every time I come to this site, I must log in again. I like the tabbed look though...

I would hardly consider the Microsoft Document Explorer to be a viable browser for most users. *Shrug*

If you guys like IE, I would recommend you check out Crazy Browser. It uses the IE engine (WebBrowser
control I assume), but supports tabbed browsing and stuff. Neat-O.

I used it for about 4 months before moving on to Opera (which is
all I use now, despite being a bit buggy.)

Microsoft Internet Explorer is the only browser that will fully support Microsoft features though. Can you ActiveX Automate Netscape, Mozilla or Opera?

My response to that is who cares? Successful websites are developed in HTML and JavaScript, not ActiveX, VBScript and CSS scrollbar attributes. Innovation is a necessity, but unless someone actually uses it there is no longterm value.

I think he meant can you drop those other browsers on to a form through an ActiveX control and use their rengering engines to present data in your application?
