Going by that model number (it's higher than my 7470), I wonder why you
need a power button at all (except for emergency situations). Won't your
computer shut off on its own from "START menu, Shutdown"? I just have to
shut the monitor & speakers after that!

Now it's a DOS machine, no start menu anymore. I was just puzzled that
Compaq would design a machine with no real power button. But now, I run
it from a power strip.

I see. That explains that, then. OK, then. I see your other thread about
installing DOS 6.22. Good luck with that. I think ultimately you will
succeed, judging by the good advice I see posted there!
