Why is it apparently necessary for certain MVPs to reply to the known
trolls in this newsgroup?

I can understand some others but MVPs should know better, shouldn't
they?

Re: Trolls and MVPs?

Hello,
I'm not an MVP, but sometimes I can't help writing my opinion because I
don't like them to have their wrong facts everywhere without somebody
answering the (more) true facts. Of course they like to provoke, but there
are many persons reading their sometimes very silly remarks.

Greetings,
P. Di Stolfo

Everyone should know better, especially regulars. But unfortunately too
often the human factor comes into play.

The majority of MVPs that post to this newsgroup are idiots, prima
donna types and crybabies when they're not waiting in line to take
turns kissing Microsoft ass.

Re: Trolls and MVPs?

I have found adding trolls to a block sender list very effective.

Re: Trolls and MVPs?

I have to say that being a recent member I find it alarming at the level
of back and forth between these two groups.

They seem to hijack many of the threads, leaving the actual OP and
others to wade thru their muck mire.

And if I may inquire, where are the Mods to take some action? These
types of threads are exactly when they are needed.

Trolls are inevitable, but to 'feed' them is, IMHO not wise.

Lets see less of that and more excellence of replies, which this forum
really has a great deal of to offer.

I not only block trolls but I block those who perpetuate discussions with
them. It does help with the message traffic here on a daily basis. ;-)

I tend to agree but I'm reluctant to killfile certain MVPs who often
give useful information but are among the worst offenders. I guess
there's no other alternative...

Good point Richard.

I also block Subject containing the word SPAM, for those who like to rename
the Subject and add SPAM to it. :)

Ok, then maybe the super mods:
http://www.vistax64.com/members/brink.html
Every forum has 'mods' or moderators to curb this type of behavior.

Re: Trolls and MVPs?

From my viewpoint the MVPs are largely trolls spreading misinformation about
the usability of Vista and peddling answers that do not solve the problems
many users have with Vista.

Re: Trolls and MVPs?

Same here...
If they insist on arguing with trolls, then they ought to add a word to the
subject, like "OT", so we could block them easier.

Re: Trolls and MVPs?

I second that... the regular MVPs here are very low quality..

perhaps we must import some new ones... hehe

Adam Albright is one of the reasons killfiles were invented and has
been in mine for a very long time.

I'm not critizing you personally, Gary, but you see what I'm getting
at?

If you'd killfiled him or resisted the temptation to reply to his
idiocy, most of us would have never seen his post and that's a GOOD
thing!

Those words should be etched on a plague of gold and mounted at Redmond!
I have not seen any good MVP's in here... they are trolls. In other
newsgroups there are some good ones...
Not many though...

You see, what kind of MVP would come here and throw propaganda about vista
being good?

So the good ones are not here because they know that vista is horrible!

Re: Trolls and MVPs?

Hello,
I think this is unfair if you say that so generally. MVPs are not different
from anybody other here, except from the fact that their input in the
communities is officially valuable. So they can be wrong or misinforming as
many times as everybody else.
