Damian is right, you are all pretty stupid. If you own a license, you can
download an ISO or you can purchase a "Media Only" Copy.

Why should ANY one ever spend money to solve a problem that NEVER
should have happened to begin with?

I bet you don't believe in Lemon laws, product recalls, consumer
products liability or the UCC either?

Do tell.

You can start by outling the process for a POS Compaq Vista box.

Because the problem was self-induced. linux lusers are too stupid to run
Windows.

They don't apply when someone creates/causes their problem. linux made you
stupid.

Ah! God love VMS! Takes me back a few years! Favourite version?

Personally, I like the story that Dave Cutler (I think) chose the name
Windows NT (WNT) because it was one better that VMS.

What OEM ships discs with a new PC? You have to contact the OEM for a
disc, they usually use a recovery partition, yes? If the recovery
partition fails, then you need a disc, which comes from the OEM, right?
I don't run windows, but that's my understanding.

Most will include the disc for less than $20.

They also give you the ability to make a recovery disc from that partition.

I would buy something else that included the disc. Buy from a local Clone
shop; they always give you the disc.

No, we don't like to waste money on Windows.

By the way, what is a "fuxes"?

So your company does not pay for the Windows system you use to write
closed source SW and make all that money you keep boasting about?

Man, times have changed. With NT 4 from an OEM I got a /real/ install
disk.

Dunno about Win 2000. Bought that from a store. Very handy with a
virtual machine these days.

Thanks for the tip.

Like I wrote, contact the OEM for a disc.

Which few take advantage of, and isn't that a one-shot deal? Even if you
do that, will that disc have the capability to format the hard drive?
The solution further up thread was to format.

Right, it's OEM dependant. So, don't buy major brands for Windows,
then? Or, have the retailer supply you with those discs? Perhaps for a
fee?

You will notice that the only pirates that steal Windows are windows

I remember the manuals that windows came with and they were always
mac-user wannabe crap. It doesn't take much to detail the minimal
functionality of windows 3.1, but the documentation completely failed
to do even that.

The last real manuals I remember came with DEC systems. When I took
delivery of a MicroVAX II, the manuals weighed more than the system.

same thing here when we bought a SUN 3 about 20 years ago - manuals weighed
more than the system. A few years later with the SUN IPX everything came
on CD (but with hypertext)
