Hi,

I have a 32bit 2008 Enterprise TS running and I'm having issues with Easy
print.

The clients are XP SP3 with .NET 3.5, or Vista SP1 with .NET 3.5.
When a user logs on, he sees the redirected printers without me having to
install any driver. Great...

Now when someone prints something, the text comes out garbled. (pictures are
ok)
I uploaded a few examples I scanned to my personal webpage @
http://users.telenet.be/obsession2001/easyprint.zip (348kb)
* Mail1.jpg = Printout Outlook 2007. Headers appear fine. Text is jibberish
except a few small words at the end (part of my signature - not entire
signature is ok)
* Excel.pdf = printout Excel 2003. All jibberish ; Word is the same, but I
don't have an example of this.
* CutePDF.pdf = print to client's redirected CutePDF. Character spacing
incorrect.
* xps.xps = print to the redirected XPS printer: I get a window on the
client where it asks to save the print, this one is fine.

If I use a Windows 2008 as a client to connect to a 2008 TS, all printouts
are fine. I verified all are running the same mstsc.exe version
(6.0.6001.18000).
I even installed a 32bit 2008 Enterprise TS in Vmware but I get the same
result.
So it's a client issue most likely but I've been searching for hours and
found nothing.

Anyone who can help me here?

regards
David

Re: 2008 Easy print issue

Hello David!

I have exactly the same issue but my server is running Windows Server 2008
Enterprise x64. Strange that there is so little information about Easy Print
because the concept is great. I will post back here if I find a solution.

RE: 2008 Easy print issue

Somme news:

Its something with the Fonts being used:

A print to the printer with Times New Roman from Word / Excel change the
font to a "sick version" of Arial. Character spacing is incorrect and its
change to a Sanserif Font.
A print with Times New Roman to CutePDF and then to a hard copy looks the
same.

A print to the printer with Calibri from Word / Excel change the font to a
Symbol one.
A print with Calibri to CutePDF and then to the printer looks good.

A print with Arial looks in both ways good.

More examples and suggestions for a quick solution are welcome

RE: 2008 Easy print issue

It sounds like there are some issues with the Easy Print Driver? Does this
behaviour occur when sending to any device or only with certain printers
(with the Easy Print Driver)?

Re: 2008 Easy print issue

It happens to every printer. The only one that works is the XPS printer. But
the users are annoyed that they can't print directly. It takes too much
time.

Re: 2008 Easy print issue

Hi to all,

i've the same problem but if you change form landscape to portrait in
outlook settings you are able to print the document correctly.
Btw this is a temporary solution i've just started a call to Microsoft in
order to solve that problem.

Re: 2008 Easy print issue

This issue has been fixed in a QFE released post .Net 3.0 SP1.
To get the fix, please install these versions of .Net
1. Install .Net 3.0 SP1
2. Install .Net 3.0 SP1 QFE – KB946411

Please note: .Net 3.5 will not contain this QFE. You would explicitly need
..Net 3.0 + QFE for this issue to be fixed.
