Interestingly enough, LSD which was first synthesized in 1939, was not
made illegal until 1968 or 69.
ALL illegal drugs were legal at one time. MDMA (Exstacy) was completely
legal until the mid-80's.
I remember in highschool in the back of the 'Omni' magazine, there was a
full color full page add for a product called 'Supercaine'. It was a
mixture of benzocaine and lidacaine and could be purchased completely
legally.
