Sorry, haven't seen the movie Jackass. After seeing the trailer for it, I
thought it would be better for the kids. Don't watch reality TV either or
wrestling. What I do watch are shows on the Discovery Channel, National
Geographic, and a few others. I enjoy watching Foresnic Files, Modern
Marvels, shows like that. The wife does enjoy the Food Channel as she is a
great cook.

So can I take that as a PROMISE from you, that you will no longer
attack posters as you have done constantly?

Are you finally ready to act like an adult, yes or no?

We tried that before and it didn't last very long. You reverted to your old
ways within a few days. I was really pulling for you before, but it just
fizzled.

Now that's funny coming from someone who changes his name as often as I do!

Greg:

Go to sysinternals.com and download process explorer. It will give you
a much better look at the system resources being used by each
application. You should be able to figure out which program is
leaking.

As the others said: let windows do what it wants with the swap file.
Intelligent design tells us that windows doesn't need a swap file if
you have enough main memory, but windows has never done well when
forced to use main memory by reducing the swap file to a small size.
It will just thrash whatever swap file it has (poor memory management,
but hey, it's MS windows).

Fully agree with others; 512MB is not a large enough page file. (Call it
swap or page... whatever...)

Running x64, I'd think I'd want to up my RAM. Know that's not always an
option due to budgetary constraints, but you're running an OS that can go
much higher than 4GB's, so if you can afford it... go for it.

You can also try a static sized page file... set min and max sizes the same.
(Following, as others have stated, the steps of removing page file
altogether, defragging drive, and resetting page file.)

And all of the above may matter not a whit if you've got a rogue app, say,
VS 2008, that is going to hose your system no matter what steps you take.

In any event, good luck.
