Re: open letter to W98 users

Hi Dan,
No, thank you anyway. I DO NOT do *private* emails. The only emails I
send and/or receive is family and close friends. I DO NOT argue religion
and/or politics. I honor all religions. I do not care what religion or
beliefs people have. That is none of my business. What people believe about
politics, is none of my business. I will not get into any deep stuff on the
web, news groups or emails. I do believe that most of the people that are
posting are good ethical people and will help if they can, that is one of
their missions in life. Where would we be without them?

Re: open letter to W98 users

Hi Angel,

You're correct, Gary is on a long needed sabbatical (away from NG's and
computers).

Angel sounds as though you may be a girl?, woman, either can be an
insult.(Insert foot).

And thank you for the vote of confidence. I'm not dead and gone yet, at
least until I get my very last dig in at an MVP, or PCR at least <vbg>

BTW girl, (my apologies if wrong) I was at one time a two-time winner at
spelling. But that was then, and this is now. And...I still have my wits
about me.

You know, *I* can still spot a bad spell-check too!

and of course you do not have to send an email. Have a nice week.

No, I never won any prizes. We HAD to know how to spell when I went to
school. The teachers were very strict. I could even, up to now, be able to
spell a word that anyone asked for the spelling. Lately I have had to double
check the spelling, by printing it and check to see if it looked right.

Spell check even tries to change my last name among other things.

Re: open letter to W98 users

Hi Angel,

I completely understand your reluctance towards e-mail. I was like that for
a while, until I found that there just weren't that many people interested
in me.

I've received two un-solicited e-mails in my life, both from NG's, and BOTH
to thank me profusely in person for the assistance I gave them. My head
couldn't fit through a doorway for a week afterwards.

I do converse with some MVP types on a semi-regular basis, and have never
been told to get lost.

This my dear is *entirely* up to you. Just remove NOSPAM from my header. I
will certainly understand either way.

Take very good care!

Oh, and a pen that recognizes hen-scratching...I'll get one FIRST!!

Pps Do you have a "Spill Chunker" for OE yet--I have a pretty good one, and
it's free.

LOL I do not have children, but I wager they may be older than Dan too.
(No cut-down Dan).

On a side note, I would love to at least audit Bill in Colo. class. Bet I'd
learn a lot.

Men of that vintage speak from experience, not a bunch of textbook

Well, I also cut my teeth a bit on some vacuum tube stuff (as a teenager).
On some occasions when messing around with that electronics, it was truly a
"shocking" experience (pun intended). Gotta be careful when messin
around with 300 volts DC inside there! It's something you never forget.

Re: open letter to W98 users

Bill,

I understand.

My first Novice rig was an old Army ARC-5 (had to be converted to xtal
control in those days), with a pair of 6146's in lieu of the standard
1625's. I had to *promise* my mentor, the owner of the rig), I would
"promise" to keep the plate current within legal limits--I did.

Bad part of that setup was it did not use grid block keying, but rather
Cathode keying with 625v across the Morse key. A few jolts , and you learn
your lesson.

I was resricted to 80 meters only, but get this, in a 50KC bandwith for
Novices, I had over 30 xtals. I learned how to grind suprplus crystals on a
piece of ceramic, and Comet cleanser. Course they stopped oscilliating
along the way. but came back again--albeit "chirpy"

Oh, the stories Bill.

Very glad to have meant your acquaintance.
