Boy, does this group need a "Self-Anointed Moderator," or what?! ;-)

Back in the good ole days of xp.gen, the pro v. anti-microsoft forces
used to fight over things that were at least tangentially on-topic, you
know about the OS, and the company that made the OS. Sure, the fighting
got dirty, nasty, and personal, but it was never as totally off-topic as
this group is.

This group is more like the collection of trolls over at alt.os.windows-
xp, more about trolling than the topic at hand.

People of good conscience need to take a stand against these trolls that
have hijacked this group. Sitting back quietly has only condoned the
actions of these childish trolls.

Ya'll have only a few choices:

1.) Do nothing, and let this group continue its downward spiral.
2.) Stand up to these children, and keep putting them in their place,
until they leave with their tails tucked firmly between their legs.
3.) Go on strike, stop posting here, and force MS to deal with this troll
problem in their group.

Is this a group for those needing help with Vista, or is this just a
place for trolls to play?

The choice is in the hands of the more rational members of this group.
Do something, anything, or just continue to condone the trolls' control
this group!

Welcome back, Kurt. Where have you been?

Been using my USENET connection as my DVR, mostly.

I recently installed Ubuntu on my "upgraded" computer, so I setup Pan to
read some groups and added this one for sh*ts and giggles, and have been
lurking for a little bit.

Boy, this group ain't what xp.gen used to be. Between the likes of Frank
& bedpan815 (and his alter-ego), this group is nearly worthless.

Kill-files are for losers. And that doesn't help those coming to this
group looking for answers to their problems, only to find all the
nonsense going on here.

Re: Delurking: My opinion about this group and its mental patients

I have been part of MS newsgroups for years. I have NEVER seen such crap in
any other Microsoft newsgroup,
like I have seen in here. I have never seen a collection of such IDIOTS in
one Microsoft newsgroup ever.

I will give you a GOOD reason this newsgroup is different.

Vista attracts stupid people because its quality is bad, and bad attracts
bad.
Its simple.

If you had a good product then there would be little controversy or need to
quarrel.
Sure there would be some trolls from time to time, but they would leave
without something to fuel their troll hunger.
Vistas very nature is food for FLAMEWARS, people who love it and people who
hate it, and some who come in here
because a lot of commotion is going on and post irrelevant crap just to get
the attention (see spanky and its clone kevpan).

Don't blame ANYTHING or ANYONE else. Blame Vista for being a bad product in
the first place that has caused grief and disappointment and controversy all
over the globe.

Who are you talking about, Kurt? Yourself?
You are one of the biggest "trolls" of all.

Perhaps YOU should leave this group, and never come back. Then
perhaps more peace will reign here.

How can so many otherwise very intelligent people screw up
something so simple so badly? If you stick a computer
keyboard in front of most people, they'll suddenly drop
30 points off their IQs. Much like placing a "Pork Barrel"
bill in front of a politician: He'll forget all about
"cooperation" the minute he counts the zeroes before the
decimal point.

It's good for sh*ts and giggles ;-)

...hey cc, you're a part of the problem, not a part of the solution.

Re: Delurking: My opinion about this group and its mental patients

Frank what I say in this post is true... and no I am not one of the idiots
in here.
I have been on numerous Microsoft newsgroups for years. The controversy in
this newsgroup does not exist in any other newsgroup. Nor have I personally
had the need to express negative comments about a Microsoft product. Until
Vista was thrown out to the public.

Where there is smoke there is fire....

Its not me or the people in here that are the problem. Its VISTA that is
attracting all this negativity
and controversy. And if there is one person that feeds off of that, its you.
And you know it.
And you know I know it.

So stop trying to play the innocent angle... we know who is who.

OK, so far, but I still wouldn't recommend it to the "average" computer
user, like it seems you've been doing.

I'll try to write up a compare/contrast experience of installing and
using Ubuntu v. Vista64 sometime soon.

That would depend on the average computer user. Which is more difficult,
learning Vista or Ubuntu?

Blame MS, not the copyrighted material they sold to you.

Vista, like ALL OSs have problems. What I wouldn't give to beat the crap
out of the idiots that destroyed Explorer! However, on the right
hardware, Vista does its basic job, being an Operating System, and does
it pretty well.

The biggest problems with Vista is the marketing BS. All the different
versions, the "Vista-capable" con . . . . but again, that is more a
problem with the company rather than the OS. MS has always purposefully
used consumer confusion & FUD as a tool to sell more copies of software
than consumers actually need or want.

iagreewithyou -- it is too bad that so much hurtful bantering has to go on.
it only downgrades the person saying it and makes themselves no better than
the other one. You have all put yourselves into the same sinking boat and
you know who you are.
