You need a reader with scoring, I think Dialog, Pan, and SLRN have
scoring, I know Xnews does.

Well, this has sure been an enlightening topic, but I'll forego any more
replies as it seems every thing is met with all sorts of hostility and
sub par hospitality.

I'll just try and read in between the 'BS' to find answers and refrain
from bothering to post any more.

Pity, it seemed like a nice place. Have a good day all.

You have it backwards. Some people access this NEWSGROUP from a forum.
That really is an important difference. Newsgroups are like the old
wild West. Anybody can say anything. Period. That's why I piss all
over any Bozo that pretends he's in charge or any of the other dumb
stunts a certain wannabe MVP who's name starts with P and also is the
name of a planet does constantly. Now watch that stuck-up phony say
I'm stalking him. No, it is more accurate to say I'm belittling him
because of how he acts and he don't like it. ;-)

>And why this generates a comment on my ignorance is beyond me. It shows
>a level of hostility I rarely have ever come across if ever at all.

Newsgroups by nature at times can be hostile especially when somebody
leaves the door open and somebody waltzes in and starts acting like he
owns the joint. We have lots of those type of characters here. ;-)

The proof is over at Google. There you'll find the usual suspects
making the same lame comments, some of the more popular summarized
below:

1. Nobody forced you to upgrade. If you don't like Vista, go back
to XP.

2. That's a driver issue.

3. You should have done a clean install.

4. The always popular fanboy theme song; it isn't Microsoft's fault.

5. You didn't do research first, don't you know you're suppose to do
that.

6. All software has bugs.

7. It will be addressed in SP1

And so on.

Or the adult way. Simply ignore posters you don't like. Can you be
adult enough to do that? Apparently not.

You always thought of in one way Frank. As the freaking idiot you are.

Re: Trolls and MVPs?

I am NOT amazed that you troll here. You write insulting sentences all the
time. By the way sentence is spelled with an "e" not an "a", but maybe you
missed the third grade.

With 60+ millions copies of Vista sold, the majority things Vista is good.
The small sampling of problems here are only a fraction of those 60 million
users, but at your education level, you probably have trouble with that
fact.

You are an idiot pure and simple and your only goal is to make trouble.

There certainly could be fewer such replies to trolls, yes. Speaking
for myself, I try to avoid replying to trolls, but there are occasions
when I feel that it's necessary to point out the deliberate false
statements some of them make, to prevent the inexperienced reader from
mistaking their lies as facts or sound advice. I usually (but not
always; I'm not perfect) don't argue with their opinions (each is
entitled to his own) or beliefs (religiously held, it seems), but I will
dispute any deliberate distortions of the true facts.

Then it's not your "opinion." You're correcting a mistake or, in the
case of some trolls, a deliberate lie.

Out of more than 2260 posts of yours to this newsgroup between January
and a few days ago (searched via Google Groups), I can find only 4 posts
that even remotely addressed technical issues, and even then you limited
yourself to saying something obvious like "Install the correct driver."
Hardly a technical font of knowledge. The only reason you post is to
troll.

Agreed and true. Good or bad, Microsoft is generous enough to have little
censorship and we need to thank it for that.

There are a few self-appointed but not well-trained moderators with double
standards, but we can ignore them.

Actually every NG is owned by someone. The one that initially submitted it
for inclusion in the news groups. My guess would be from the name that this
particular one is OWNED by Microsoft.
If you want more info, google for how to create a news group and take it

I would say, "a few" are really nice and you may not even know they are
MVP's after a while.

Funny thing is, if I'm wearing my badge, I'd be even more careful about my
behavior, and it's no longer just matter to myself but also to the
organization for which I represent.

One reason is that I rarely see any of them saying anything starting with

I was taught that professionals are not determined by skill sets but by

My two cents.

You can no more "own" a newsgroup then you can own the sky or the
moon. You know the real reason I hang out here? Well to be totally
honest it is fun to watch all the off the wall absurdity that's posted
day in and day out by people that THINK they know what they're talking
about but in reality don't have a clue.

A newsgroup is nothing more than a classification, similar to how
folders are arranged on your hard drive. When you post to a particular
newsgroup the news server it gets uploaded to "remembers" which group
you posted to and shares that information along with other stuff and
shares it with thousands of other networked news servers all over the
world.

While Microsoft may have created a bunch of newsgroups to promote
their crap, once created all groups are just part of the larger Usenet
network. Microsoft like others may provide a news server to store
posts that originate on their news servers but other people post to
other news servers. So the concept of newsgroup ownership is LAUGHABLE
once you understand how things actually work.

That's why it is absurd to suggest Microsoft could or would even want
to monitor or filter what gets posted. Again, maybe they edit what
arrives or originates on THEIR news servers but since there are
thousands of news servers, many carrying most or all of the Microsoft
groups along with some of the well in excess of a hundred thousand
other news groups what you said is laughable.

Really? Then you won't have any trouble re posting any of these MVPs
comments you claim were critical of Microsoft. Do so now.
